Next up: Monday. And more coffee. Hopefully the chipmunk won’t be needed.

A quick update before we head into the next chapter of this ridiculous adventure.

Mike has finished his pre-op appointment, and barring any schedule changes, his biopsy is scheduled for Monday, October 5, at 9:30 a.m. We’ll be at the hospital at 7:30, which is much better than the original 7:30 surgery time with a 5:00 a.m. arrival.

Tomorrow, Sunday, he has an MRI at 12:30. Dr. Engh will use those images to plan the biopsy and guide the needle to the largest spot.

The goal is to get some answers about the changes we’ve been watching on his MRIs. Is this tumor activity? Is it damage from treatment? We’ve had plenty of scans, opinions, and uncertainty. Now we need tissue to help figure out what we’re actually dealing with and what comes next. Unfortunately, this surgery to obtain that tissue is our best chance of getting those answers.

Monday won’t necessarily bring all those answers. The pathology may take about two weeks, so there will likely be another stretch of waiting. Patience is not my greatest virtue, but what else can we do?

As for me, I’m doing what I can to prepare, keep things moving, and keep my inner rabid chipmunk from taking over the entire operation. Some days, that goes better than others.

We appreciate everyone who has checked in, sent love, made us laugh, or simply shown up. It means more than I can properly put into words right now.

I’ll share an update after the procedure when I have news and a moment to breathe. I appreciate everyone’s love, support, and messages. If I’m slow to answer messages next week, please know that my focus is on Mike, but I will absolutely get back to everyone as opportunities allow.

For now, we’re taking this one step at a time. Tomorrow, the MRI. Monday, the biopsy.
